How long have you been in business?
Eureka Discoveries, a division of Eureka Solutions, Inc., has been in business since 2003.
What is your primary product or service?
We provide educational and entertaining science programs for children and adults. We have been featured on network TV and have performed live for over 50,000 people. We specialize in presenting our audience with discrepant events - that is to say, they are constantly surprised and delighted. Schools, public libraries, park districts and businesses have all used our services
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Dr. Art Friedman; our president & CEO found an interest in science as a young child. As a Ph.D. organic chemist with many years as a research scientist, he became interested in educating the public. He currently teaches organic and general chemistry at a local college and biology, chemistry and physics at two high schools. Erica Friedman is an elementary school teacher who is adept at simplifying difficult science concepts so young children can understand them.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We have developed a novel series that currently consists of twelve distinct programs involving hands-on demonstrations and audience participation. In addition, we are extremely versatile and can custom design programs to fit our clients' needs. We have over one thousand different demonstrations at our disposal, many of which were created by us.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We operate from one centralized location where we have a small laboratory and prepare our demonstrations. These are transported by us to our clients' facilities.

We are located on the NW corner of the intersection of Lake Cook Rd and Carlisle Ave, the first light west of the end of Northbrook Court.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash and checks only.
Which areas do you service?
We mostly service the North Shore and city of Chicago, but will travel up to 100 miles from our Deerfield, headquarters.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Dr. Art Friedman is the owner and Erica Friedman is the business manager.
What are your hours of operation?
We operate by appointment, but someone will always return a phone call or e-mail the same day it is received.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
After one program at a house of worship, a parent told us that her son, who has severe ADHD, is unable to sit still and focus on anything for more than 5 minutes. He nevertheless sat enthralled throughout a physics and chemistry program that lasted over an hour. On another occasion, a teacher approached us after we had performed at her elementary school. She told us that she had a student who she could not motivate and was not interested in anything. After seeing our program, he told her that he wanted to be a scientist.
