303 Cab Association was formed in 1946 by a group of three independent owner operators from Evanston who wanted to serve the North Shore. These drivers wanted to offer a higher level of service to their customers, such as being on call, opening and closing doors for their customers, and clean vehicles inside and out.
The first 303 TAXI posts were at the Wilmette, Winnetka and Glencoe train stations. At the Winnetka train, there was a callbox; when a customer wanted a taxi, they dialed “303” and the driver would pick up the phone. This originated the first dispatch service in the suburbs.
A few years later, radio dispatch came along and revolutionized the industry by providing fast, efficient methods of calling and dispatching a cab. Once again, 303 Taxi was one of the first to take advantage of this technology. The savvy, upscale clientele of the North Shore quickly realized what a great service 303 Taxi offered. The rise of O’Hare International Airport as the traveler’s airport brought about another 303 Taxi innovation: airport flat rates. Customers like to know what they are paying before getting into the cab; this is a way to guarantee our quality service at the lowest, guaranteed price.
303 Taxi has evolved into one of the most modern, technological advanced taxi dispatch services in the country. We continue to test prototype equipment for Mobile-Knowledge, a worldwide leader in taxicab dispatch technology.
Besides 303 Taxi accepting all major credit cards, there are in-house programs that include Gift Cards, discounts for Frequent Riders, our Safe Ride Home Card designed to provide the user an alternative to getting home when they need it and corporate programs that include vouchers or corporate charge cards all good throughout our entire family of companies
In 1999, 303 Taxi expanded service into Waukegan and increased our fleet size in Lake County with the acquisition of ABC Metro Taxi. When Flash Cab joined our family, 303 Taxi became the first to offer complete taxi service in Chicago and the suburbs. In 2007 the 303 Taxi family expanded to central and southern Arizona operating as VIP Taxi.
